James May: Club Director and Head Coach                                                                                                                                                                     Mr. May grew up in Oregon.  His first bike as a four year old was a single-speed fixie with solid rubber tires and chrome fenders that soon turned to rust in the northwest  rains. He started mountain biking about 1990 on a hard-tail with no front suspension and top of the line “center pull” brakes. Currently he drives a Turner Sultan that weighs more than it should but keeps him on out on the trails.  Mr. May’s favorite trail is most anything on Gooseberry Mesa in southwest Utah, and locally it’s “Lizards” in the Laguna Coast Wilderness.    His greatest accomplishment on a bike, in his own words: “If I’m careful, I can ride with no hands.  I once rode to the top of Saddleback Mountain from west to east (with hands). Not that big of a deal, but I was sore for a couple of days.”
